Research & Development
The R&D unit works to develop new business opportunities
including running of pilot projects. This unit also looks after
the development of technology for the use of small and micro
enterprises.
Training
The Training division addresses the needs of potential and
existing entrepreneurs, particularly in business training.
We believe educating entrepreneurs in sound business management
practices is a positive contributor to business success.
We innovate, import and adapt training products tailored
to SMEs and provide sector specific training to farmers,
fisher folk, and retailers, among others. As part of our
strategy of working with SME support institutions, we train
trainers, who in turn, deliver business training directly
to entrepreneurs in the community.
Treasury
The Treasury Division plays a supporting role to other units
of the Centre. This division is responsible for funding Centre
projects and meeting the financial needs of SMEs. The Treasury
Division works closely with funding agencies, donors and
Government to achieve this. Responsibility is also taken
for lending to SMEs by Second-Tier Organisations and the
provision of financial advisory services.
Micro-Finance
The Micro-Finance Division wholesales small loans or grants
for small and micro enterprises to facilitate start-up or
expansion. The division operates through intermediaries,
called Micro-Finance Institutions (MFIs).
Corporate Services
This division is responsible for the day-to-day running of
the Centre and its activities. Administration, accounting,
business information and HRD functions are all taken care
of here.
