The National Centre for Small & Micro-Enterprises Development (NCSMED) is
mandated under the Small and Micro-Enterprises Act of 2002 to
develop, promote and support small and micro-enterprises (SME). The primary
focus of the centre's work will be towards economically or socially disadvantaged
groups, including young people and women. The broad aims of the Centre include
the development of business training programmes, advocacy for a supportive
policy and regulatory environment for SMEs, and facilitation of credit and
funding for SMEs.
The Centre is the key player in Government's goal to realise a quantum leap in
the nation's economy. SMEs represent a huge potential for wealth and employment
creation which is largely untapped.
Vision
To be the driving corporate force behind the uplifting of SMEs in Fiji and a role model for Pacific Island Nations through a sustained and bold search for excellence and creativity.
Mission
To foster the emergence and the development of a strong and sustained national socio-economic movement based on small and micro-enterprises.
